Appalachia Service Project Background and 2012 Forms

ASP is a youth based ministry dedicated to serving needy families throughout the Appalachian Mountains.  Since 1969, more than 260,000 volunteers from across the nation have repaired 14,000 homes through the Appalachia Service Project.  But ASP is more than a home-repair ministry.  Often called a "relationship ministry", ASP emphasizes the relationships that are built and the lessons that are learned when volunteers take time to interact with the family they've been assigned to serve during a week-long summer mission trip.

Trip dates for 2012 are July 21 - 29.  For more information and registration, please click on the links below.

In a nutshell:  "...when you change the lives of others, they have a way of changing you." (from the official ASP website, www.asphome.org)

This past summer, St. Joe's served for the first time with the ASP.  Honoring the value of relationships in ministry, the St. Joseph ASP group committed to 9 months of preparation together, building strong teams and strong faith.  During this time high school teens and adult group leaders learned about systemic poverty, Appalachian culture, construction techniques, and each other as disciples of Christ.
